Culture, History and Community Engagement (13 days)

Rich in history and tradition, Vietnam offers students an opportunity to experience a nation that has transformed into one of Southeast Asia's most vibrant and dynamic countries.

This 13-day journey takes students through Vietnam's major cities, picturesque waterways of the Mekong Delta, and rural excursions. Along the way, the group will participate in a range of engaging educational and cultural experiences, including taking part in the Hanoi Great Race, learning to prepare traditional Vietnamese cuisine, cycling through villages, and exploring many of the country's significant historical and cultural sites. A full-day excursion to the Long Tan Cross Memorial and nearby former battlefields also provides valuable insight into Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War. 

A key feature of the program is its service-learning component. Working alongside local residents, students will help construct a family home as part of a community development project undertaken in partnership with local authorities. This meaningful experience encourages teamwork, cultural exchange, and a deeper understanding of the social and economic challenges faced by communities in rural Vietnam.
