This 7-day trip through Southern China is explicitly designed for students to explore China's rural beauty and vibrant ethnic minority culture as an alternative to the mainstream destinations more commonly frequented by visitors.
This fast-moving, activity-rich trip entails travelling to enchanting Guilin and into the mountains of Guiyang (Duyun). Here, we will encounter eye-catching terraced rice fields swirling down into lime-green valleys and traditional ethnic minority groups. In addition, the program will include a cruise on the beautiful Lijiang River and an excursion to Yangshuo. During the trip, students will undertake a hands-on cooking class, a cycling excursion, Tai Chi and the chance to try their hand at the Chinese art of calligraphy.
The program is intended to foster interactions between ourselves and our Chinese contemporaries. It will feature time working on an agricultural project with a local hill tribe group in a remote village.
All programs and activities described in the itinerary are explicitly designed to promote cultural awareness. But, most importantly, it is intended to be a highly enjoyable and memorable introduction to a country that will continue to develop at breakneck speed yet maintain deep traditions and age-old customs.
